The Indian SPCK is a good example of a successful indigenous publisher.
SPCK has been active in India since the early 18th century. A distinct
SPCK in India was established in 1935, and became a fully autonomous
organisation in 1958.
It is today perhaps the most significant Christian publisher serving the
united Church of North India. It produces up to one hundred new titles
each year in a variety of languages, and has played a prophetic role in
highlighting the needs of women, Dalits and minority groups as well as
providing Christian resources.
ISPCK has five shops - in Delhi, Calcutta, Nagpur, Chotanagpur and
Bilaspur - and operates a mail order operation to all of India. ISPCK
also runs regular training workshops for Christian publishers and
booksellers from all over India and indeed other parts of southern Asia.
Although it only joined the SPCK family in 1996, APCK (the Association
for Promoting Christian Knowledge) has been active in Ireland since
1792. It is linked to the Church of Ireland but independent from it.
APCK acts as publisher for the Church of Ireland, and produces a small
number of new books and pamphlets each year as well as the Church's Book
of Common Prayer and other liturgical publications.
APCK has bookshops in Dublin and Belfast. A mail order service also
operates to all parts of Ireland.

Established in 1976, SPCKA has focused primarily on raising funds to
support a grants programme. In recent years close links have developed
with the Australian Christian Literature Society, an organisation with
similar aims but drawing its support from a slightly different
constituency. Indeed at present the General Secretary of SPCKA is also
the General Director of ACLS.
Over the past two years SPCKA has also put its name to a number of
publications aimed at the Christian market in Australia.

SPCK/USA was established in 1983 to raise money and support its own
grant programme mirroring that of SPCK itself. Based at the University
of the South in Sewanee it raises some $250,000 per annum to support
projects.
One of SPCK/USA's major initiatives has been the development of the
Adopt-a-Seminary scheme, whereby donated second-hand theology books are
carefully selected and offered to theological colleges and seminaries
throughout the world.
